Roleplaying is essentially micro theater. The game table is the stage. Players are the actors. The gamemaster is the director. In place of the backdrop and scenery are a battlemat and miniatures. Handouts, the props. Metagamemastery is the theatrical art that revolves around roleplay gaming. The interaction between the gamemaster and the players is the primary attraction. Beyond the rules, anything else brought into the game should not get in the way of the roleplay experience. It should add to the whole and blend into the background. The purpose of this site is to explore techniques for enhancing a game’s atmosphere and assist in the storytelling process without intruding on it.
